Courses
every autumn · six places each
Three courses run each autumn, six places on each. The weekend and the Saturday are etching and drypoint on copper; the Tuesday evenings are linocut in the relief room. Copper, blocks and paper are included where listed below, and every fee is also on the price list. Many students go on to hire press time once a course is over, and the press hire page explains how that works.
Intro to Etching weekend
Two days from a bare copper plate to an edition of three. Saturday covers hard ground, drawing a line through it and biting it in the ferric bath; Sunday adds aquatint for tone and ends at the large press, printing your edition.

Linocut Evenings
Four Tuesday evenings in the relief room. You learn to cut cleanly, to register a second colour so it lands where it should, and to print both on the relief proofing press and by hand with a baren, which teaches you what the press is doing for you.

- 520 zł

- Tue 18:00-21:00

- Blocks, ink, paper
September run
- Four Tuesdays from mid September4 evenings
November run

Drypoint in a Day
No acid, no ground: you scratch straight into copper with a steel point, and the burr thrown up by the line holds ink and prints with a soft, velvety edge. If time allows we finish with chine-collé, laying a thin sheet onto the plate so it bonds to the print in the same pass.

From the studio
One winter a retired tram driver came for the weekend course and stayed on as a key-holder. By the next spring he had etched every stop on the route he drove for thirty-one years, twenty-four small plates, and over four Saturdays on the big press we printed an edition of twelve together. It is still what I point to when someone asks what the studio is for.
Zofia
One-to-one tuition
160 zł an hour, booked in blocks of two hours or more and arranged around press availability, so your session lands on a press that is free.
It suits a technique a course only touched on, aquatint and chine-collé most often, or a plate that is not doing what you want and needs another pair of eyes at the bath. Tell us in your email what you are working on and bring the plate or a proof.
Off-site workshops
A half day of relief printing wherever your group is, within 40 km of Krakow. We bring a portable tabletop press; you provide a long table and between 8 and 12 people.
The fee is 1,900 zł for the half day, with travel and the press included. Workshops are relief only, because etching needs the ferric bath and the bath stays in the studio. Book at least four weeks ahead.
Deposits and cancellations
- A 50% deposit holds your place. The rest is paid 14 days before your course begins.
- Cancel more than 14 days ahead and the deposit is refunded in full.
- After that, your place can be moved to a later date once.
- The etching courses are for ages 16 and over. Relief courses take ages 12 to 15 with an adult booked alongside.
- Pay by bank transfer in advance or by card at the studio.
To book, write with the course and the date you want, and we will reply with the deposit details.
